Have you ever snorkelled in the shadow of a castle?
At Scilla you can, and the scenery is nothing like a fairy tale (but with more fish and fewer dragons). Get ready to slip on your mask and snorkel to explore one of the most fascinating areas of Tyrrhenian Calabria, where the legend of Scylla and Charybdis meets a seabed rich in biodiversity, enough to make a marine encyclopaedia envious.
A4-hour experience in total, guided by marine biology experts!
What we will do
The appointment is 15 minutes before 09:00 at the meeting point in Marina di Gioiosa Ionica (RC). Here we will be welcomed by the staff for a test of theequipment (mask, snorkel and fins).
Afterwards, we will board a shuttle that will take us in about 1 hour to the mythical Scilla, right under the Ruffo Castle.
Once there, we will have a briefing together with the guides and diving instructors specialised in marine biology. We will then enter from the shore to begin our snorkelling session: we will swim among prairies of Posidonia, colourful sponges, starfish, sea urchins and sea tomatoes, madrepores, molluscs and a myriad of colourful fish.
After about two hours spent exploring the seabed and discovering everything that moves (or camouflages itself) beneath the surface, we will return to land and set off in the direction of Marina di Gioiosa Ionica.
The experience will last approximately 4 hours in total, including transfers.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for ages 8 and up; children under the age of 18 must have a signed release form.
Swimming skills are required to participate in the activity.
Other information
The experience takes place from June to September depending on weather and sea conditions and is confirmed with a minimum of 6 adult participants.
There is free parking on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.
There are changing rooms with showers and toilets at the diving centre.
On request, it is possible to arrange to meet at the meeting point directly in Scilla, under the fortress of the Ruffo Castle: contact the organiser at the contact details given in your booking confirmation e-mail to make arrangements.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
