Couple's stay in historic estate on the outskirts of Rome with tasting

Can you already see yourself walking down the endless cypress avenue that leads you into the heart of this splendid 47-hectare estate?

It is here, in Frascati, that your stay awaits you as a couple in a prestigious 20th century estate declared a national monument. Not a simple overnight stay, but a parenthesis out of time, amidst neat vineyards and a view that on clear days embraces Rome.

You will sleep between walls rich in history, wake up with the smell of freshly baked cakes and, above all, toast with a guided tasting of 3 excellent wines accompanied by authentic local flavours.

What we will do

Check-in is at 3 p. m. at the estate in Frascati, nestled in the hills of the Castelli Romani. After walking down the charming cypress-lined avenue, you will be welcomed by the staff and escorted to your accommodation in the charming 20th-century villa or in the guest quarters that house an ancient medieval tower.

The rooms, all different from each other as in the private houses of yesteryear, are furnished with period furniture and overlook the garden. Some offer a panoramic terrace with views of Rome, the hills and the property's vineyards. Each room has a private bathroom, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, minibar with coffee and herbal teas, complimentary toiletries and complete linen. After settling in, you can enjoy the silence of the estate, stroll through the vineyards or relax in the outdoor pool during the summer season, surrounded by 47 hectares of unspoilt landscape among vineyards, olive groves and a romantic garden overlooking Rome.

The package includes a guided wine tasting of about 2 hours, to be arranged with the winery between 15: 00 and 17: 00 in the afternoon or between 8: 00 and 13: 00 the following day. You will begin with an account of the history of the winery and the area between the rows of vines, before entering the modern wine cellar and discovering the winemaking process.

You will then descend into the evocative ancient cellar, which was dug by hand into the tuff more than 2000 years ago in Roman times. Finally, there will be a guided tasting of three of the estate's wines: the Frascati Superiore DOCG, savoury and mineral; the Roma DOC red 'Lecino', obtained from the rare native Lecinaro vine; and the Cannellino di Frascati DOCG, a sweet wine rich in scents of dried fruit. The glasses will be accompanied by typical 'ciambelline frascatane ' and extra virgin olive oil produced on the estate, cold pressed in the in-house mill.

The following morning, from 8 a. m. to 10 a. m. , an Italian breakfast with homemade cakes and tarts made with jams from the orchard awaits you.

Check-out is by 10: 00 am.

The facility is wheelchair accessible, with the exception of the ancient wine cellar; the tasting room is wheelchair accessible, while the rooms have a step at the entrance but are then accessible.
