Full description
If so far you have only limited yourself to tasting, we have news for you: it is definitely time to find out how that wine ended up in your glass!
And no, we're not referring to the courtesy of the waiter, but to a real smattering of the trade: come and discover the Azienda Agricola Scarzella in Rocchetta Tanaro, where a real oenologist will transform you from a simple enthusiast into an 'insider' of the sector.
Between a walk in the vineyard and the secrets of the cellar, you will learn that behind every sip there is a work of masters, all crowned by a comparative tasting of 4 wines and a board of local products.
What we will do
The appointment is at the selected time at the Azienda Agricola Scarzella in Rocchetta Tanaro (AT), in the setting of the Monferrato hills, a UNESCO heritage site. We will be welcomed by our guide and the family's oenologist , ready to reveal the behind-the-scenes details of this family-run winery's wine production.
We will begin with a walk through the rows of vines to understand how an excellent wine is made, starting right from the earth. The guide will explain the importance of the soil and, depending on the time of year, we will be able to try out some of the manual processing stages, such as stripping, to understand what it really means to manage a vineyard.
We will then continue inside the cellar, where we will visit the winemaking rooms and discover how the different plots are worked separately to preserve the identity of each vine and create unique wines.
Finally, we will sit down for a tasting of 4 glasses chosen according to our tastes from the house labels, such as Barbera d'Asti, Nizza, Grignolino or Syrah. As true 'apprentice oenologists', we will analyse why wines smell a certain way and what characteristics make them unique. The tasting will be accompanied by a board of typical local products.
The experience will last about 2 hours in total .
