Have you ever heard of Tempranillo? This ancient grape variety from Spain reached the Via Francigena following in the footsteps of pilgrims from Canterbury to Santiago de Compostela.
It is a unique story rooted in the centuries that you can learn more about by visiting theAzienda Agricola Pietro Beconcini in San Miniato, in the Pisan hills. Here the owners Leonardo and Eva have chosen Tempranillo as the protagonist of their production.
We look forward to seeing you in the cellar for a guided tour and a tasting of 4 of their most innovative wines!
What we will do
The appointment is at theAzienda Agricola Pietro Beconcini in San Miniato (PI), at the time chosen for the activity.
Welcoming us will be Leonardo and Eva, the fourth generation of winemakers on the Beconcini family's land.
The visit will begin outside with an introduction to the history and production of the winery. We will learn about the characteristics of the land, the peculiarities of the San Miniato area and Tempranillo, which reached the Via Francigena from Spain several centuries ago, in the footsteps of the pilgrims who travelled it.
After this explanation of about 15 minutes, we will take a seat in the beautiful barrique cellar , where we will have the pleasure of tasting the wines of the winery surrounded by barrel s and barriques.
Each wine we will taste will be explained in detail to allow us to appreciate its unique characteristics. The tasting will include a sampling of schiacciata and pecorino (sheep's milk cheese ) and 4 glasses of wine, 3 of which will be Tempranillo-based, born from the recovery of this ancient variety, and a fourth wine from the Tuscan tradition:
- FRESCO DI NERO Tempranillo
- IXE Tempranillo
- VIGNALENICCHIE Tempranillo
- 1 to choose between Reciso Sangiovese and Maurleo
After the tasting, it will be possible to buy the wines directly at the winery. The experience will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for everyone without age limits.
The wine tasting is reserved for adults only. Minors can participate in the experience free of charge; please inform the organisers of their presence after confirmation of booking. Non-alcoholic drinks are not available.
The wine cellar is wheelchair accessible, with the exception of the toilets.

The activity takes place all year round, every day, and is confirmed with a minimum number of 2 participants.
On-site parking is available for guests. It is not possible to reach the winery by public transport.

Dogs are allowed on request, provided they are kept on a leash; contact the organisers after booking confirmation to check that it is possible to take your four-legged friend with you on the chosen date.
