Tandem paragliding thermal flight at Pian del Falco-Sestola

In Sestola, in the province of Modena, you can fly with a tandem paraglider in the skies of Pian di Falco, the balcony of the Modena Apennines. A thermal flight is even more exciting than a classic paragliding flight because it lasts longer and takes place at a higher altitude.

Following the wind currents, you will discover the thrills of flight and enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Cimone and the town of Sestola.

You will always be in the company of an expert instructor who will guarantee maximum safety. With this experience you will be able to realise your dream of flying!

What we will do

The meeting point is in Sestola, in the province of Modena, where the instructor will welcome you. Together you will head on foot to the take-off point at Pian del Falco on Mount Calvanella. Once there, at 1600 m above sea level, the pilot will conduct a briefing on the rules of behaviour for flying in safety and comfort.

Sestola is located next to the superb Mount Cimone , which, thanks to its particularly favourable atmospheric conditions and its large and safe take-off area, is the site of many paragliding flights in thermals. Thermal flights differ from dynamic flights in that they take advantage of the ascending wind currents to soar through the sky and reach much higher altitudes. They also last longer: you will have plenty of time to enjoy the view from above.

No effort is required to take off. Firmly secured on the paraglider, all it takes is a few steps downhill and you can take off. You will remain suspended in the air from 20 to 50 minutes, depending on the wind conditions of the day. During the flight you can enjoy the wonderful panorama of theModena Apennines.

The more courageous can ask the pilot to try a few aerobatics to complete the experience with the right adrenalin rush. The landing takes place gently and naturally on a large meadow in the valley.

The total duration of the experience, including transfers, briefing and flight, is about 3 hours.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is at an easy level and suitable for everyone from 12 years old and up.

You do not need to have experience or special physical skills, but you must have a body weight of between 35 and 95 kg for men and between 40 and 85 kg for women .

Attention! Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the time selected during the booking process.

The activity takes place from April to October. Depending on weather and wind conditions, times may be subject to change. In this case you will be informed promptly by the pilot.

You can also reach the take-off point by jeep at an additional cost of €5 per person (payable locally).

During the flight, passengers are prohibited from holding mobile phones and cameras due to the risk of them falling. It is possible to request professional videos and photos, at a cost of 25€ to be paid locally.

Minors must present written consent signed by their parents. If consent is not provided, the guide will not be able to allow participation in the activity and will not be reimbursed.
