Half-day off-road tour of Etna

Have volcanoes always fascinated you? Join us on a 5-hour off-road adventure to Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano, and be enchanted by its surreal atmosphere.

All you need is a pair of hiking boots to explore the north side of the volcano, among craters and lava flows. Not only that, at some point you will receive all the paraphernalia of a true explorer: with torch and helmet you will even visit a lava corridor.

And if you want to know all about the history of the volcano and its eruptions, that's no problem: the guide will be on hand to answer all your questions!

What we will do

The rendezvous is at your accommodation or hotel in Catania, where a jeep and van will be waiting for us for the pick-up (included). Once on board, we will reach the northern slope of Mount Etna. The absence of the tourist crowd will allow us to fully enjoy the uniqueness of the landscape and experience the charm of the volcano with the right amount of calm.

Once there, we will set out with the guide ready to tell us the history of the volcano and the various eruptions. When we arrive at the Grotta dei Ladroni, we will put on our helmets and go inside. The cave is a fascinating lava flow corridor which, according to legend, was used as a refuge by a group of bandits.

After visiting the cave, we will make a short stop at a refuge and begin the trek up to an altitude of 1770 metres. It is a very easy walk with a height difference of only 40 metres.

During the walk we will observe the wonder of the landscape, among craters and lava flows, and we will cover approximately 3 km in an hour's time. The route will take us close to the edges of craters that are now extinct, from which we can enjoy an extraordinary view of Etna.

At the end of the walk, we will return to Catania. The entire experience, including off-road transfers, lasts a total of 5 ½ hours.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for everyone, with no age limit. Children aged 0 to 2 years participate free of charge.

Very small children cannot be transported in prams during the trek, the use of a baby carrier is recommended. The vans and off-road vehicles have child seats for 0 to 3 years and booster seats for up to 9 years. Other information

The activity takes place all year round and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants.

Three 6-seater off -road vehicles and two 8-seater off-road vans are available.

If the participants' accommodation is located in a ZTL area, a pick-up service is guaranteed. The staff always choose a meeting point at the shortest distance from the customer, so as to facilitate reaching them.

Off-road vehicles are not equipped to transport dogs. Only small dogs are allowed inside backpacks, carriers and pet carriers. However, please notify the staff in advance and inform them of the presence of dogs.

In the event of light rain, the staff will provide rain jackets. The activity is only cancelled in the event of heavy rainfall or volcanic eruptions.
