Full description
Not all sunsets are the same. Some you watch from the beach... others from a volcanic crater 1900 metres above sea level.
With the Etna sunset e-bike tour you will cycle on the wilder and less-travelled side of the volcano, crossing lava flows, enchanted forests and side craters. You will witness one of the most fascinating spectacles nature has to offer: the sun setting over Etna, while all around it is tinged with fiery red.
What we will do
The appointment with the guide is in Nicolisi (CT), shortly before sunset. After an introductory briefing on the use of e-bikes, we will set off on our excursion through the lunar landscapes of Etna!
We will cycle along 20 km of volcanic nature, with an altitude difference of about 430 m. The route will take us through forests of beech, pine, broom and poplar trees, alternating with expanses of black lava that seem to have emerged from another planet.
We will reach the Galvarina Refuge and visit a hornitos, a small volcanic mouth that bears witness to Etna's activity. From there, we will begin the descent, passing by an ancient shepherds' haystack and then to the Grotta di Monte Nunziata.
The final part will be the most spectacular: we will climb to the crater of Monte Nunziata, where we will stop to admire the sunset. The sky will turn orange, the volcano will be tinged with gold, and you will feel part of something truly unique.
The return trip will take place at dusk, along the same route, which takes on a completely different atmosphere at night: different scents, low lights, a surreal stillness and perhaps some encounters with nocturnal fauna. Finally, we return to the starting point.
The experience lasts about 3 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is at an easy level and is aimed at everyone. There are no age limits, but theminimum height to participateis 140 cm.
Ability to ride a bicycle is necessary.
Other information
The tour can be booked from March to October and is confirmed with a minimum of 3 participants.
Important: within 2 days before the tour, it is mandatory to contact the guide to inform him/her of your weight and height, so that the most suitable electric bike can be allocated.
No pet seats or trolleys are available.
The meeting point is not easily accessible by public transport, but you can request an extra transfer service to/from your hotel or accommodation in Catania and province. The cost is not included and will be paid on site, depending on distance. To request this, simply contact the guide at the contact details you will receive by e-mail with your booking confirmation.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
