Experience a taste of la dolce vita in the heart of Tuscany!
Get behind the wheel of a vintage Fiat 500 and join a tour through the Chianti hills. Visit the village of Castellina in Chianti, stop at scenic spots to take beautiful photos, and enjoy a light lunch with wine tasting at a local winery.
More than just an excursion, it will be a real step back in time!
What we will do
We will meet in Badesse (SI), 15 minutes before 9:30 am. Our tour leader will welcome us and give us a brief training session on driving the vintage Fiat 500s that we will use during the tour.
We will then set off to discover Chianti Classico on board our iconic car, a model that has marked Italian history. The pleasure of driving a vintage car along the winding roads of Tuscany will take us back in time, allowing us to experience a taste of the 'dolce vita'.
The first stop will be Castellina in Chianti, a charming medieval village where we will stop for about 40 minutes to explore the historic centre. Along the way we will make several scenic stops to admire the Tuscan countryside and take many beautiful photographs among the rolling hills and rows of cypress trees.
We will then visit a local winery, where a unique wine and food experience awaits us. We will discover the secrets of wine production and taste two local wines: a Chianti Superiore and an IGT, accompanied by a platter of cold meats and cheeses. Between the winery visit and light lunch, our stop will last about an hour and a half.
After lunch we will resume our journey in our vintage Fiat 500s to visit another jewel of the Chianti region: Monteriggioni or Radda in Chianti, depending on the timing.
The tour will end with the return to Badesse, after a total of six and a half hours.
Who it is aimed at
The tour is suitable for everyone from 13 years of age. It is possible to participate in the experience as a driver or passenger.
The driver must be at least 18 years of age and have a B licence and a credit card; a pre-authorisation will be made on the credit card at the time of hire as a guarantee for any damages, which will be reimbursed if there has been no material damage to the vehicle at the end of the tour. The driver must be able to drive the vehicle; if the guide considers that the client does not have sufficient driving skills, he/she may cancel the booking without refund or propose an alternative vehicle.
Experience in driving cars with manual gearboxes is required.
Other information
The tour can be booked from April to November and is confirmed when a minimum number of 2 participants is reached. The experience also takes place in the event of rain.
Five Fiat 500s with 4 seats each are available for a maximum total of 20 participants. People who register as drivers will be able to take turns driving the vehicle with the other participants. Dogs are not permitted.
A vegetarian lunch menu is available on request. Please report any food allergies and/or intolerances to the contact details given in your booking confirmation email.
A pick-up and drop-off service from/to Florence is available at a cost of €100 per person, from/to Castellina in Chianti or San Gimignano at a cost of €50 per person. Ask the guide at the contact details you received in your booking confirmation email.
The pick-up point can be reached by public transport (Badesse railway station); there is free parking on site.
