Half-day quad tour of Etna and Valle del Bove

When you think of Sicily, what comes to mind? The turquoise sea, the sweet cannoli, or perhaps the volcano?

Here, stop here, if it's the volcano, then you are definitely thinking of the mighty Mount Etna!

Experience an extraordinary adventure by exploring Mount Etna in a completely new, adrenaline-fuelled way: a quad bike tour! Set off with us from Pedara and enjoy driving 45 km through the picturesque Valle del Bove and up Mount Zoccolaro in an exciting 4-hour tour.

Go off-road on the black lava sands, explore the lava flow caves and admire the craters at 2000 m for an Etna like you have never seen before!

What we will do

We will meet about 15 minutes before the start of the tour in Pedara (CT), a village at the foot of Mount Etna. Here we will meet the guide who will introduce us to this nippy four-wheeler. It will be an informative briefing in which we will learn how the quad bike works and how to ride it safely.

We will put on our helmets and, having climbed aboard the quad bike alone or in pairs, we will be ready to set off to discover Etna. The 45-km route will take us through rocky dirt, asphalt, and volcanic sands, taking us up to 2,000 metres (maximum altitude reachable by quad bike).

We will start out on unpaved terrain, ideal for getting used to riding the quad bike in a volcanic environment. Continuing on, we will cross the fascinating black sands, immersing ourselves in the almost lunar landscape of the Bove Valley. Here we will stop for about 15 minutes to visit a lava flow cave, one of many unique natural phenomena in the area.

Back on board the quad bike, we will head towards Zafferana Etnea, a small village on the eastern slope offering spectacular views of the coast and the Ionian Sea. When we reach the Lateral Craters and the highest point of the route, at about 2000 metres, we will stop to rest at the Rifugio Sapienza. If we wish, we will also be able to switch to the guide.

We will finish with an exciting descent down the slopes of Mount Etna, returning to the starting point after about 4 hours of hiking.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is aimed at everyone, aged 5 and up.

A valid B licence is required to drive the quad bike.

Other information

Activities take place throughout the year, including holidays.

Suitcases and personal items can be left at the venue. It is also possible to rent shoes and a k-way for the excursion on site, but it is recommended to bring a spare pair of shoes to wear at the end of the experience.

Dogs are not allowed on the excursion.

The meeting place cannot be reached by public transport, but a transfer from Catania, Taormina and the surrounding area is available at an extra charge (to be paid on site).
