3-hour quad bike tour to the Pianoro del Merro in the Aniene Valley

The best part of off-road trails? The unexpected encounters!

From Anticoli Corrado (RM) to the Pianoro del Merro, a 3-hour hike with stages through old disused railways, valleys at an altitude of 800 metres, a sulphurous lake and grazing cows and horses awaits you.

All topped off with the company of a guide and a coffee stop with a special welcome!

What we will do

The appointment is 30 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Anticoli Corrado (RM). Our guide will be waiting for us, ready to explain the route and give us all the information we need to tackle the quad bike excursion in the best possible way during a briefing of about 15 minutes.

We will begin the tour by travelling along a stretch of the old Subiaco-Mandela railway. We will then enter the territory of Marano, ascending along the ridges of the Ruffi mountains, between rocky walls and thick forests.

We will continue towards Rocca di Mezzo, crossing a small valley, inhabited by grazing cows and horses, with an extraordinary view of the entire Aniene Valley, the surrounding villages and the peaks of the Simbruini Mountains and theAbruzzo hinterland.

We will also pass through the narrow streets of Rocca Canterano, where we will stop for a coffee break with a biscuit on offer. Our destination will be the Pianoro del Merro, a valley at an altitude of 800 metres, dotted with grazing horses and often flown over by buzzards. Here there will be time for a short stop beside the sulphurous water pond, before we set off again towards our starting point.

We will finally return to base camp after covering approximately 34 km in 3 hours. The activity will last about 3½ hours in total.

Who it is aimed at

The driver must be at least 18 years old and have a B licence. The passenger must be at least 145 cm tall.

The experience is of an easy level and suitable for a first time quad rider.

Other information

The excursion is available all year round and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum of 2 booked quads .

During the tour driver and passenger can swap driving, provided they both meet the requirements.

The organiser has at its disposal 5 quads capable of carrying 1 driver + 1 passenger for a total of 10 participants.

Free parking is available on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.

Any accompanying persons can wait at the base camp where there are chemical toilets.
