The perfect day out: a museum visit, wine tasting and a picnic!
This is what awaits you in Castagnole Monferrato: you’ll visit the Ruchè Museum, sample five different expressions of this rare grape variety and enjoy a picnic packed with local produce.
A 3-hour experience, all about culture and flavour!
What we will do
We’ll meet 10 minutes before the selected time at the Museo del Ruchè in Casa Ferraris, Castagnole Monferrato (AT) . Once there, we’ll meet the guide who’ll be taking us on this adventure!
Once all participants have gathered, the experience will begin with a guided tour of the Ruchè Museum: this is situated inside the village castle, amongst cellars dating back to the 18th century and a characteristic Piedmontese ‘infernot’ carved out of tuff. During the tour, which lasts around 40 minutes, we’ll learn about the history of the Ferraris family, as well as interesting facts about the Monferrato region and Ruchè wine.
We’ll then take our seats in the tasting room, where we’ll sample five different expressions of the Ruchè grape, accompanied by a small platter of local cured meats and cheeses.
Finally, we’ll receive a basket containing finger food made with local produce: vegetable skewers, flavoured omelettes and other delicacies prepared by a local chef; water is included, and wine is available for purchase on site. We’ll be recommended three scenic spots, each about a 10-minute drive away, where we can enjoy our picnic. They’ll also provide us with a tablecloth to spread out on whilst we take in the view!
Finally, we’ll return to the meeting point to hand back the picnic basket. The experience lasts approximately 3 hours in total.

This experience is recommended for those aged 18 and over.
The wine tasting is reserved for participants aged 18 and over only. Any underage participants will be served a platter accompanied by a non-alcoholic drink.
The venue is not wheelchair accessible.

Please note! The journey from the meeting point to the picnic venue takes about 10 minutes by car.
The experience runs from May to September and is confirmed once the minimum number of 2 participants has been reached.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
