What's the strangest place you've ever slept? We bet you've never done it in a hammock suspended 1 to 20 metres above the ground!
Experience the incredible experience of tree camping in the woods of the Gran Sasso, under a starry sky and immersed in the silence of nature.
Learn to climb trees with a tree climbing course with professional instructors and recharge your batteries with a packed lunch, aperitif, dinner and breakfast included. We are waiting for you at the summit!
What we will do
Arrival is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the adventure park in Fonte Cerreto (AQ), in the heart of the Gran Sasso.
You will be welcomed by tree climbing instructors to begin the most sporting part of this experience: a course that will teach you to climb trees like a true professional, equipped with all the necessary equipment.
With practice you will be able to climb up to a height of 15-20 metres above the ground, varying according to your level of skill. An instructor will be with you every step of the way to give you confidence and tips to improve your technique.
Around 12 noon you will take a break to recharge your batteries with a packed lunch (included), before continuing practising in the afternoon. Around 16:00 you will start setting up the hammock where you will sleep: you can choose the height you want, from 1 to 20 metres above the ground.
Each hammock is equipped with a sleeping bag and a sleeping bag and has LED lights to illuminate the night and a protective cover; a headlamp will be at your disposal for any nighttime travel. In addition, you will find a power bank to charge your phone in case you need it. If you choose to mount the hammock at a significant height, you will be able to descend and ascend with a rope ladder and you will sleep with a light harness for added safety.
In the evening you can recharge your batteries with an aperitif and dinner under the stars (included): meals will be prepared with local ingredients and served by the park kiosk. Then you can climb into your hammock and relax in the silence of the night, among the branches of the trees that will envelop you like a protective nest.
Perhaps the chirping of birds or the fresh morning dew will wake you up. After breakfast (included) it will be time to resume with the tree climbing course, to perfect the techniques learnt the day before.
The activity will end around 12 noon on Sunday.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for persons aged 16 and over; children under 18 may participate accompanied by an adult.
Good physical fitness and no fear of heights are required.
The park is not wheelchair accessible.
Other information
The experience is available all year round on the dates indicated in the calendar and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 persons, not necessarily belonging to the same group.
Chemical toilets and jerrycans with a water tap, together with biodegradable soaps, in line with respect for the environment (no showers or sinks) are available at the campsite.
Packed lunch, aperitif, Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast are included in the experience; you can request the menu of the day from the organisers before your stay. Please also report any food allergies and/or intolerances: alternatives are available for vegetarians, vegans or coeliacs.
The hotel is not accessible by public transport, but there is free parking available.
