Trekking with alpacas in the Sienese hills

Imagine you are in the beautiful scenery of the Sienese hills. You are about to take a photo of the panoramic view over the city of Siena, when at a certain point the sweet snout of an alpaca covers the lens. Best photobomb of the year!

This is exactly what could happen when you take part in our alpaca walk: in the company of a guide, you will venture into the natural surroundings of the Tuscan province. Anexperience of over 1 hour, during which the view of the city will be obscured by these irresistible snouts!

What we will do

The appointment is 5 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Siena. We will be welcomed by the guide who will accompany us on this soft adventure!

Once all the participants have gathered, the guide will hold a briefing during which he will provide all the useful information for the experience. We will then be accompanied to the alpaca enclosure: Robin Hood, Merlin and Picasso are just some of our potential companions. The guide will not fail to introduce us to them, assigning us the animal that most resembles us: each of them is unique, just like us!

And here we are ready to begin our walk with alpacas: after an initial uphill stretch on asphalt, we will walk on a dirt road through the picture-postcard landscape of the Sienese hills. We will take a panoramic route with views of the city of Siena: we will be able to spot the Duomo, the Torre del Mangia and the Basilica of San Francesco; we will also pass through the village of Fogliano. Along the way there will be a break to let the animals graze and take a photo with our alpaca.

After walking about 2 km, we will finally return to the meeting point. The alpaca walk will last 1 hour and 15 minutes; the total experience will last 1.5 hours.

Who it is aimed at

The experience is suitable for everyone from 6 years of age; children under 18 must be accompanied on the walk by an adult.

The route is wheelchair-accessible: contact the guide at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email to indicate the presence of a person with a mobility impairment.

Other information

The experience is available from January to December and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 2 participants.

Free parking is available on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport; however, it can be reached by taxi from the centre of Siena.

Thetimetable of the activity may vary during the summer period due to high temperatures in respect of the animals.

The centre has 10 alpacas, each of which is assigned to a participant or a participating couple with an accompanying person. You can participate in the experience as:

• Participant: Person who holds the alpaca during the experience. Each participant may have a maximum of one accompanying person.
• Accompanying person: Person who does not hold the alpaca during the experience. Each accompanying person must correspond to one participant. The accompanying person must always proceed with the booking by paying the "participant" price: he/she must then contact the guide at the contact details given in the booking confirmation e-mail to indicate that he/she is an "accompanying person" without an alpaca.

Any accompanying persons who do not wish to participate in the experience can wait in the shaded car park outside the farm.

Dogs are not allowed on the experience.
