Forget your usual day at the beach: Sardinia will surprise you with a journey back in time!
From Cagliari, you’ll set off with a guide and transfer included for an excursion to Barumini. Here, you’ll explore the Nuraghe Su Nuraxi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a guided tour covering history and archaeology. You’ll then head to the Giara di Gesturi plateau to admire the wild ponies that inhabit the area!

What we will do
We’ll meet at the specified time at the meeting point in Cagliari. We’ll be met by the guide, who will welcome us and accompany us throughout the excursion into the Sardinian hinterland.
After a brief briefing, we’ll set off in a minibus towards Barumini. We’ll spend about an hour travelling through the rural landscapes of central Sardinia, discovering interesting facts and stories about the area along the way.
Once in Barumini, we’ll continue with a guided tour lasting about an hour of the UNESCO site of Nuraghe Su Nuraxi. We’ll walk amongst the ancient nuragic structures, immersing ourselves in the millennia-old history of Sardinian civilisation.
We’ll then head to the Giara plateau, a journey of about 20 minutes. Here, we’ll take a walk along the paths through the Mediterranean vegetation and have the chance to spot the famous wild ponies.
Finally, we’ll head back to Cagliari, passing through the island’s scenic landscapes once more, and conclude the experience at the starting point.
The tour will last a total of 4 hours.

The activity is also suitable for people with reduced mobility, but is not accessible to wheelchair users.

The experience is available all year round, from Monday to Friday, and is confirmed once a minimum of two participants have signed up.
Dogs are not permitted.
There is a pay-and-display car park on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.
A pick-up and drop-off service is available from accommodation in Cagliari and the surrounding area, within a 15 km radius. For those staying outside this area, the meeting point will be the designated location. To request a pick-up service from your hotel, please contact the organisers using the contact details provided in your booking confirmation email.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
