Full description
Lake Como holds more secrets than you might imagine. Some are hidden within the walls of a castle. Others lie behind the broken windows of an abandoned villa.
The best way to discover them? On a Vespa.
Hire an iconic 125cc Vespa in Varenna and get ready to spend a whole day exploring medieval castles, mountain passes and Villa De Vecchi, the lake’s most famous abandoned mansion. An itinerary to enjoy at your own pace, which will reveal a side of Lake Como that few people expect!
What we will do
The meeting point is at 9. 30 am in Varenna (LC), where you’ll collect your 125 cc Vespa. After a brief explanation of how the scooter works and how to use the interactive map that will guide you along the route, you’ll be ready to set off.
The first stop will be Varenna itself, with its cobbled alleyways, colourful houses overlooking the lake and the romantic atmosphere that has made it one of the most iconic villages on Lake Como. From here, you’ll head up to Vezio Castle, an ancient medieval fortress from which you can admire one of the most spectacular views of the entire lake.
Leaving the lakeshore behind, you’ll continue towards Esino Lario, known as the ‘Pearl of the Grigne’, and reach the panoramic Agueglio Pass, where Lake Como gives way to woods and mountains.
You’ll then descend towards Cortenova for a stop in front of Villa De Vecchi, the famous abandoned mansion shrouded in tales and legends, before heading back towards the lake in the direction of Bellano.
The final stop will be the Orrido di Bellano, a spectacular gorge carved out of the rock by water over the millennia, before returning to Varenna to conclude the tour.
The experience will last approximately 9 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The driver must be at least 18 years old and have a B licence. Passengers must beat least 6 years old.
During the journey driver and passenger may swap driving if both meet the requirements.

The experience is available from March to November.
Please note! The organiser reserves the right to require the customer to undertake a preliminary driving test and, should the result be unsuccessful, the tour will be cancelled.
The price is per Vespa; the organiser has 6 125cc Vespas available, each fitted with a mobile phone holder and top box, capable of carrying 1 rider and 1 passenger, for a total of 12 participants.
A credit card will be required as security upon collection of the vehicle. If you do not have a credit card, a security deposit of €300. 00 in cash will be required, which will be refunded at the end of the hire period.
A lead rider service is available on request at an additional cost of €400. 00: please contact the organiser using the details provided in the confirmation email to request this service.
Free parking is available on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is very strict. You get a full refund if you cancel within 31 days from the activity start date. Within 30 and 15 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
