"Sapore di Sale'' by Gino Paoli ringing in your head and the handlebars of a Vespa in your hands. This tour to the Salt Pans of Trapani has all the makings of an experience to crown your Italian summer!
Accompanied by a guide, you will visit one of Sicily's most picturesque places, as well as a WWF Oasis and home to numerous protected species, in about 2½ hours.
Get ready for something never seen before!
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before 10 a. m. at the meeting point in Trapani (TP), where our guide will be waiting for us. On our arrival, we will be given the Vespa reserved for us and the helmet.
Once all the participants have gathered, we will set off from the city centre to reach the Trapani salt pans. The salt pans have been elected a FAI 'Place of the Heart' and are also the habitat of numerous species protected by WWF Italy, such as the avocet, the pink flamingo, the white heron and many other species of birds and plants.
During the tour, we can admire the basins where salt is extracted using traditional techniques and the majestic windmills used to pump water between the basins. Our first stop will be near the Maria Stella Mill of the Trapani salt pans.
We will then continue to the Nubia Salt Pans where we will visit the Salt Museum (ticket included) , and where we can also take a walk through the salt production basins.
We will finally return to the meeting point in the city after approximately two and a half hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
Experience is suitable from the age of 18, both driver and passenger. The driver must have a B licence.
During the route driver and passenger may swap driving if both meet the requirements.

The experience is available from mid-May to September.
The organiser has 4 Vespas available that can carry 1 driver + 1 passenger for a total of 8 participants per tour.
Caution! The itinerary may be subject to change in the event of unfavourable weather conditions or for other adverse reasons.
There is free and/or paid parking on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
