Full description
The Benedictine monks have always done it this way. And there’s a reason for that!
We welcome you to the Bugno Martino Winery in San Benedetto Po (MN), where we proudly produce ‘the Lambrusco you wouldn’t expect’, defying conventions and clichés.
Amidst rows of vines surrounded by nature and fermentation tanks, you’ll enjoy an authentic experience where you’ll taste no fewer than 4 or 7 glasses of organic wine, accompanied by local specialities from the Mantua area!
What we will do
The event will take place at the selected time at the Bugno Martino Farm in San Benedetto Po (MN), set against the backdrop of the lush Oltrepò Mantovano countryside. We will be welcomed by our guide, Raffaella, who is ready to help us discover the ins and outs of this estate.
We’ll start with a walk through the vineyard: we’ll discover the secrets of organic Lambrusco and the careful, manual farming techniques used. Weather permitting, we’ll also venture into the estate’s wildlife reserve to admire the pond, keeping an eye out for pheasants, hares and ducks.
We’ll then head indoors for a tour of the artisanal winery. As we walk amongst the vats, the guide will explain the winemaking techniques and tell us how unique grapes, including the ancient Grappello Ruberti ( Mantua’s only native grape variety) , are transformed into natural delicacies, following a tradition begun centuries ago by the monks of Polirone Abbey.
Finally, we’ll take our seats in the comfortable tasting room. Depending on the option chosen at the time of booking, we will taste four glasses of our choice from the winery’s range, or the entire range of seven labels, in a tasting journey ranging from the ancestral Lambrusco to the unexpected Chardonnay—macerated in amphorae or refermented in the bottle.
To accompany the wines, there will be a delicious platter of locally sourced specialities, featuring traditional Mantua salami and shavings of Parmigiano Reggiano. The experience will last approximately 2 hours.
