Full description
Matera deserves a vehicle that’s up to the task. Small, a convertible and decidedly Italian.
At the wheel of a vintage Fiat 500 ‘Spiaggina’ convertible, you’ll drive for an hour and a half exploring Matera, following your guide who’ll lead the way on a scooter. From the Gravina landscape to the famous Sassi, you’ll pass through some of the city’s most iconic scenery with the wind in your hair and… plenty of style.
And since a vintage 500 in Matera practically begs to be photographed, a photo shoot is included during the tour!
What we will do
The tour starts at the selected time at the meeting point in Matera (MT). Here you will meet the guide who will accompany you throughout the tour, leading the way on his scooter.
Before setting off, you’ll get to know the vintage Fiat 500 ‘Spiaggina’ , a fully open-top model with a manual gearbox. You’ll take a short test drive in the local area to get used to driving the car, and then you’ll be ready to hit the road.
Following the guide , you’ll reach the Gravina di Matera area , at Campo Murgia. Here you’ll make your first stop to learn more about the area and visit a natural cave accompanied by the guide.
You’ll also make the most of the scenery for the included photo shoot, before getting back into the 500 and continuing towards one of the city’s most iconic landmarks: the Sassi di Matera, which you’ll drive straight through.
Finally, you’ll reach the Madonna delle Vergini viewpoint, where you’ll stop to admire the view over the Sassi and the historic centre. After this final stop, you’ll head back to the starting point.
The experience will last approximately one and a half hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a Category B driving licence valid for driving in Italy (for non-EU licences, these must be valid under Italian law or accompanied by a permit where required) .
Good manual driving skills are required when driving cars with a manual gearbox.
The car is not fitted with seatbelts and it is not possible to install child seats.
Other information
The excursion can be booked all year round.
Important: a deposit of €100 in cash is required to take part in the activity; this must be paid on site and will be refunded at the end of the tour.
The meeting point is easily accessible by public transport; there are both free and paid parking spaces available on site.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
