Full description
The price of such a good wine ? Hours and hours of work in the vineyard!
In the Langhe region of Castiglione Tinella, the Simone Cerruti Winery produces wines from sloping vineyards - the so-called sorì - worked by hand, without chemical herbicides. And the great thing about this experience is that you will be able to walk through it, discovering all the secrets behind heroic viticulture.
Finally, you will taste 6 glasses of house wines in which Moscato will be the protagonist along with Nebbiolo, paired with local cured meats, cheeses and breadsticks!
What we will do
The appointment is at the selected time at the Simone Cerruti Winery in Castiglione Tinella (CN), in the heart of the Langhe. We will be welcomed by the company guide , ready to tell us the story of four generations of winegrowers who, from the late 19th century until today, have chosen the path of 'heroic viticulture'.
We will begin our experience with a walk through the vineyard on one of the estate's sorì , a vineyard characterised by a steep slope and excellent exposure to the sun. Here, all the work is done manually and without the use of chemical herbicides, a constant effort that reflects the dedication and respect for the land. During the walk between the rows, the guide will explain the unique characteristics of the Langhe territory and how the microclimate, soil and geography influence the character of the wines produced.
We will then return to the winery, where we will be shown the complete journey that wine takes from the vineyard to the bottle. We will visit the different production and ageing areas, observing the barrels, vats and tools that transform grapes into wine. The guide will delve into the fundamental steps of winemaking: from fermentation to resting, from the technical choices that define the company style to the sustainability certifications that characterise the Simone Cerruti Winery.
We will then come to the highlight of the experience: the tasting of six wines. We will be served the company's most representative wines, with Moscato and Nebbiolo as the undisputed protagonists. The tasting will take place in the shade of the lime trees in the garden, with a panoramic view of the rows of vines and the Langhe landscape (or in the cellar, depending on weather conditions and availability) . Each glass will be accompanied by quality local snacks: local cured meats, cheeses and breadsticks, selected to create a perfect balance with the wines.
The experience will last approximately 2 hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is recommended for 18 years of age and above. The wine tasting is reserved for adults only. Minors may participate as accompanying persons: if they wish to consume the snacks and drinks, their fee is €15. 00; if they participate without consumption, their participation is free.
The winery and the experience are not wheelchair-accessible, as the vineyard walk involves walking on sloping terrain.
