In the heart of the Monferrato region, Cantine Merlone awaits you, set in a hilly landscape overlooking the Rilate Valley.
The tour includes a visit to the winemaking areas and historic cellars, where you will discover how local wines are made and the evolution of production techniques over time.
Dulcis in fundo, the experience will end with a tasting of no less than 5 local wines!
What we will do
The appointment is at Cantine Merlone in Cossombrato in the province of Asti, in the heart of Monferrato, among rolling hills and vineyards overlooking the Rilate Valley. In this setting we will be welcomed by the guide to begin our visit and tasting experience.
We will begin the tour by entering the winemaking area, where we will discover how grapes are transformed into wine through the different production phases. We will also retrace the history of the winery and its evolution, from family origins to modern techniques.
We will then continue to the historic 19th-century ageing cellars, where the wines rest in barriques and tonneaux. We will also discover a small final surprise in the ancient ice cellar, linked to the tradition of the Metodo Classico Alta Langa.
At the end of the visit, we will sit down for a tasting of five local wines (including Grignolino d'Asti and Barbera d'Asti) , accompanied by breadsticks, focaccia, cold meats and local cheeses. The experience will take place in the tasting room or, weather permitting, on the panoramic terrace.
The experience will last a total of approximately 1. 5 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is recommended for ages 18 and over. Wine tasting is reserved for adults only.
Any accompanying under-age persons may participate in the experience at a reduced rate based on consumption to be paid on site.
The facility is wheelchair-accessible with the exception of the ancient icebox.

The experience takes place all year round and is confirmed on reaching a minimum number of 3 participants.
Dogs are allowed in the outdoor areas and the tasting room, while they are not allowed when visiting the indoor production areas.
Free parking is available on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport, although arrival by car is recommended.
