Full description

Become a cheesemaker for a day!

Discover this ancient craft (and much more) by visiting a farm in the Romagna countryside. You’ll meet cows, sheep and goats: you’ll be able to interact directly with the animals and watch a dairy goat being milked.

Finally, you’ll see the milk being turned into cheese and take part in a delicious tasting session!

What we will do

We’ll meet at the selected time at the meeting point in Mercato Saraceno (FC). Waiting for us there will be our guide – who is also an Educational Farm Operator – who will accompany us on this adventure!

Once all participants have gathered, the experience will begin with a presentation of the farm: we’ll discover an authentic and genuine setting, based on respect for the environment and the animals.

We’ll then get into the guide’s car to head to the animal sheds, which are about 6 km from the farm. We’ll venture into the rolling hills of Romagna, travelling along country roads lined with cultivated fields. Along the way, we’ll hear stories and interesting facts about the local area, and we might even stop to learn more about the seasonal crops!

We’ll then arrive at the stables, home to animals that live in a semi-wild state and may well be out grazing at the time. First, we’ll visit the dairy goats: we’ll enter the barn, visit the milking parlour and watch a goat being milked! Still in the vehicle, we’ll then visit the cows and sheep: we’ll enter the various barns and have the chance to interact directly with the animals.

Finally, we’ll return to the farm for the cheese-making workshop: we’ll watch a demonstration of how goat’s milk is turned into cheese (which we’ll be able to smell and taste)! We’ll then round off the activity with a tasting of local cheeses, baked goods and cured meats, accompanied by a glass of Sangiovese wine grown on the farm.

The experience will last a total of 2 hours.
