In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, caressed by the sea breeze, lies Belguardo, one of the estates owned by the Mazzei winery, established as one of the most important wine producers in the area.
In the company of a sommelier, you will discover the history of their grapes starting from the vineyards to the cellar, concluding with a tasting of the 6 wines , 2 of which are Cru, accompanied by a sampling of typical products.
Acomplete food and wine experience, which you can decide whether to enjoy in company or privately!
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before the time selected during the booking process at Tenuta Belguardo in Poggio La Mozza (GR).
Depending on the option chosen, you will take the tour with other participants or exclusively with the sommelier, for an even more immersive experience. The activity will begin with a short walk through the estate's vineyards, where Cabernet, Sangiovese, Vermentino and many other grapes grow. A varied composition, from which complex wines with elegant and aromatic notes are obtained.
The tour will continue in the cellar, where you will visit the vat cellar (where the grapes are fermented) and the barrique cellar, i.e. the wine ageing room. The tour will last about 20 minutes, after which you will be seated in the tasting room, located inside a typical Maremma country house. You will taste 4 wines and 2 Tenuta Belguardo crus, for a total of 6 tastings accompanied by a platter of Tuscan cold cuts and cheeses:
- Belguardo Vermentino (Maremma Toscana DOC)
- Belguardo Rosè (Toscana IGT)
- Belguardo Tirrenico (Tuscan Maremma DOC)
- BelguardoBronzone (Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG)
- Cru Tenuta Belguardo (Maremma Toscana Rosso Riserva DOC), winner "Top 100 World Wines" - Wine Spectator
- Cru Belguardo V (Vermentino Superiore Maremma Toscana DOC), aged in terracotta amphorae
The experience will last a total of approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Who it is aimed at
The wine tasting is reserved for adults only, so the experience is recommended from the age of 18.
Minors under 16 years of age participate free of charge: please contact the hotel to advise of their presence. Minors over the age of 16 and abstemious persons can take part in the experience by selecting"accompanying persons" in the booking box: they will only be served the accompanying board.
The wine cellar and wine shop are accessible by wheelchair or pushchair, the vineyard is not.
Other information
The activity takes place all year round. It is possible to customise the experience by choosing between the'shared tour' or'private tour' option; the latter provides for theexperience to be carried outexclusively for 2 guests or more.
There is free parking on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.
Dogs are allowed in the common areas of the winery and in the vineyard, but are not allowed in the cellar.
