Full description
Step through the doors of the Villa Medicea di Liliano, in the heart of Chianti, for an unmissable wine-tasting experience.
You will delve into the underground cellars, an authentic labyrinth of barrels and 19th-century orciaie, and then climb up to the panoramic terrace overlooking Florence Cathedral, where the guided tasting awaits you.
The protagonist? Sangiovese, which you will taste in 3 different expressions, accompanied by olive oil produced on the estate and other delicacies. An experience for true lovers of wine and Tuscan beauty!
What we will do
The appointment is at the Malenchini estate in Grassina, a few kilometres from Florence, where the guide will welcome us.
We will enter through the main gate of the splendid Medici Villa to begin our tasting tour, amidst fascinating stories about the Medici family and the villa's history over the centuries.
We will continue with a visit to the cellars: we will first explore themodern fermentation area and then delve into the underground cellars, an intricate labyrinth of stone arches and centuries-old barrels.
From the depths of history we will return to the surface to sit in one of the villa's two exclusive rooms: the Fireplace Room or the Courtyard Room, depending on the number of participants. Weather permitting, we can also sit on the panoramic terrace, with a view of Florence Cathedral.
We will taste three estatewines, accompanied by some snacks such as taralli and breadsticks. To top it all off, we will taste the estate's fine extra virgin olive oil, produced with the same passion and dedication as the wine.
The experience lasts a total of about 1½ hours.
Who it is aimed at
The wine tasting is reserved for participants aged 18 and over only. Any accompanying minors or adults who are not tasting will be charged a reduced fee, which can be selected in the booking box; they will be served fruit juices or other non-alcoholic drinks.
The facility is wheelchair-accessible, with the exception of the underground cellar and terrace.
Other information
The experience takes place all year round.
For those who wish, it will also be possible to add a board of typical Tuscan products (optional, €15 for two people). For those with food intolerances or requirements, alternatives are available on request (contact the guide at the contact details given in the booking confirmation e-mail to communicate these).
The meeting point is not easily accessible by public transport; there is free parking on site.
