Full description
Much more than a picnic in the vineyard: a food and wine experience to discover the Oltrepò Pavese!
This is what awaits you at Azienda Agricola Calatroni: together with a dedicated guide, you will walk through the vineyard and the production rooms. You will toast with the best labels of the house and, during a picnic between the rows, you will taste artisanal products.
An experience to discover the territory in (and with) all the senses!
What we will do
The appointment is at 10 a.m. at Azienda Agricola Calatroni in Santa Maria della Versa (PV). We will be welcomed by a guide who will accompany us on a discovery tour of this winery in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese area!
Having gathered all the participants, the experience will begin outside with a visit to the vineyard: we will learn more about the cultivation technique and the organic method, walking between the rows of vines or admiring them from under a shelter depending on the weather conditions. We will then move inside for a tour of the cellar: we will walk through the entire production process, from vinification to the ageing of the Metodo Classico. This first part will last about 1 hour.
We will then take a seat in the tasting room: the guide will serve and describe 4 glasses of wine, generally Metodo Classico, Bonarda, Riesling and Sangue di Giuda. The toast will be accompanied by samples of homemade products such as cheese, vegetable flan and tart. This second part will last about one hour.
At the end of the guided experience, we will receive our cooled picnic bag containing 1 sandwich with roast beef, grana cheese and salad; 1 sandwich with Varzi PDO salami; 1 home-made pie; 1 0.5 l bottle of water; 1 0.75 l bottle of wine for every 2 or 3 adults ("Columban", Province of Pavia IGT Pinot Nero vinified in sparkling white); except for the bottle of wine, the contents are per person. With our bag in hand, we can then head to the vineyard and sit among the rows of vines, where we will spread out our picnic blanket and enjoy the homemade products.
Return to the winery must take place by 5 p.m.

Attention! In the event of bad weather, the picnic will take place in the indoor restaurant.
The experience takes place from March to August and is confirmed on reaching a minimum number of 2 participants.
