Heroic vineyards overlooking the sea preserve the authentic flavour of Calabrian traditions.
Take part in this wine tasting and vineyard walk on the Costa Viola in Bagnara Calabra, in the province of Reggio Calabria. In an unspoilt area 400 metres above sea level, you will discover an artisanal wine-growing project born from the recovery of ancient terracing.
A 3-hour experience crowned by a rich tasting of wines and local products at sunset!
What we will do
The appointment is at the indicated time and meeting point in Bagnara Calabra (RC) at the Ceramida vineyards. Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by the staff of the company, a family-run business born of a passion for recovering traditional wine varieties and cultivation on dry-stone walls.
The tour will begin under a cool pergola positioned directly in the middle of the rows, where we will be welcomed. From here we will begin a guided walk through the heroic vineyard, located in a unique panoramic position overlooking the sea. During the walk along the terraces, we will take a close look at the plants cultivated according to the principles of synergistic agriculture, which excludes the use of chemical fertilisers and herbicides.
We will be told about the history of the area, the ancient customs associated with wine-growing on the Costa Viola and the characteristics of the vines cultivated, both indigenous such as Zibibbo and Calabrese Nero, and international such as Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon. We will also discover the secrets of the traditional winemaking process, which the company carries out by hand in steel vats in the nearby ancient village.
After about an hour's visit, we will return under the pergola to begin the guided wine tasting. We will taste a selection of five wines from the winery, two whites, two reds and a final passito. To bring out the nuances of each glass, the wine will be accompanied by a rich platter of local gastronomic specialities : we will taste bruschetta, pizza from Bagnara, pecorino cheese from Monte Poro, 'nduja and traditional cured meats, and then finish with the typical dry almond biscuits, piparelli, paired with the passito.
The entire experience will take place in front of the spectacle of the sun setting over the sea, offering a view as far as the Aeolian Islands. The activity will end after a total of 3 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The wine tasting is reserved for adults only.
For participants under 18 , non-alcoholic beverages are provided in lieu of wine.
The experience is not accessible to people in wheelchairs or with pushchairs.

The experience is available all year round, except in January, and is confirmed with a minimum number of 2 participants.

There is free parking for guests at the starting point.
For those travelling by train, an optional round-trip transfer service is available from the train stations of Scilla, Palmi or Reggio Calabria, at an additional cost of €10 per person (payable locally) .

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
