Full description
Could you tell the difference between a Chianti DOCG and a Riserva without looking at the label? You don’t need a manual to do so, but rather a complete immersion at the Bonomonte Winery, which since 1982 has been giving a unique character to Tuscany’s most beloved grape varieties.
It will be a three-part journey: a refreshing walk through the vineyards to understand the soil, a descent into the underground cellar amongst vats and production secrets, and finally a private tasting of four glasses.
And since Tuscany isn’t just about grapes, get ready to taste the estate’s extra virgin olive oil and round off the experience in style with the unmissable pairing of vin santo and cantucci.
What we will do
The tour begins at the selected time at the Bonomonte Winery in Barberino Tavarnelle (FI), set against the stunning backdrop of the Chianti hills. You will be welcomed by your guide, who will immediately take you to the heart of the production process: the vineyard. The rows of vines are located on the hill opposite, about a minute’s drive away (or a short walk for those who prefer to go on foot) .
During the 20-30 minute walk through the vineyard, the guide will provide technical insights and interesting facts about the soil and the different grape varieties grown, explaining how the local microclimate influences the ripening of the fruit.
After discovering the origins of the raw material, you will visit the underground cellar located directly beneath the main building for around 10–15 minutes. Here you will explore the rooms dedicated to winemaking, observing the concrete vats where fermentation takes place and the steel tanks used for ageing, discovering the secrets that make every bottle unique.
The tasting will take place outdoors if the weather permits, or in the dedicated tasting room. You will taste four of the estate’s wines: Ros’Astro Toscana I. G. T. Rosato, Chianti D. O. C. G., Camp’Albracco Toscana I. G. T. Rosso and Chianti D. O. C. G. Riserva. To accompany the wine, you will taste the estate’s own extra virgin olive oil and finish with vin santo and handmade cantucci.
The experience will last approximately 2 hours.
