Come and discover the flavours of Valpolicella Classica with a guided tour of the Marchesi Fumanelli Winery in San Pietro in Cariano, just a stone’s throw from Verona.
You’ll explore a historic estate dating back to 1470, stroll amongst ancient Roman ruins and picturesque tuff cellars, before treating yourself to a guided wine tasting paired with appetising breadsticks or a generous platter of typical local produce!
What we will do
The event will take place at the selected time at Cantine Marchesi Fumanelli in San Pietro in Cariano (VR), set against the backdrop of the Valpolicella Classica region. We will be welcomed by our guide, who will take us on a tour to discover the Squarano estate.
We’ll start with a stroll along the avenue of cypress trees, where we’ll admire the ancient Roman ruins on the estate. We shall then continue with a tour of the two evocative underground tuff cellars, dating back to the 1500s, where we shall discover the secrets of the family’s centuries-old winemaking tradition.
Finally, we’ll settle in for a guided wine tasting. We’ll be able to choose from three different options:
- Discover ValpolicellaTasting : includes three glasses of wine (a white wine of your choice from Sidus Bianco Veneto IGT, Buran Bianco Veneto IGT or Terso Bianco Veneto IGT, as well as Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC and Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG) accompanied by handmade breadsticks.
- SquaranoTasting : includes three glasses of wine (a white wine of your choice from the IGT range, Valpolicella Classico Superiore ‘appassimento Squarano’ DOC or Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG) paired with a platter of top-quality cured meats and cheeses from Lessinia and fruit mostarda.
- FumanelliTasting : features 4 glasses of wine ( a white of your choice from the IGT, Valpolicella Classico Superiore ‘appassimento’ Squarano DOC, Valpolicella Ripasso DOC and Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG) , always paired with a platter of typical local produce.
The experience will last approximately 1½ to 2 hours.
Who it is aimed at
This experience is recommended for those aged 18 and over, as the wine tasting is restricted to adults only. Any accompanying minors and non-drinkers may take part in the experience as ‘accompanying guests’ at a cost of €10 (with the option to order a platter for €15) .
The tour route is not wheelchair accessible, with the exception of the tasting room and the wine shop.

The experience takes place all year round, from Monday to Saturday.

Dogs are permitted only if they are small and carried in your arms.
Free parking is available on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport ( there is a bus stop, but we recommend travelling by car) .

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
