Come and discover the Fattoria Madonna delle Macchie just a few kilometres from Viterbo, an authentic reality that smells of traditions handed down through three generations, where a visit to the historic wine cellar awaits you, amidst tools of the past and the rural charm of farming civilisation.
You will end on a high note with a tasting of 4 DOC wines and excellent home-produced EVO oil, accompanied by a rich platter of carefully selected local delicacies !
What we will do
The appointment is at the selected time at the Fattoria Madonna delle Macchie in Castiglione in Teverina (VB), in the setting of the upper Tiber valley, between Orvieto and Bagnoregio. We will be welcomed by our guide, who will take us immediately to the beating heart of the farm: the 19th-century farmhouse owned by the Belcapo family.
We will begin the tour by admiring the old traditional oil mill with its stone millstones, where we will discover how a superior quality extra virgin olive oil is made. We will then proceed to the historic wine cellar, a veritable museum where the tools of the past tell stories of hard work and passion. We will descend into the basement dug into the tuff, where the barriques now rest, to breathe in the evocative atmosphere of the tales of peasants and brigands.
One of the most exciting moments will be the crossing of the 'escape route', an evocative tunnel from the Middle Ages that emerges in the garden of the farmhouse, in the shade of a 400-year-old oak tree.
Finally, we will sit at outdoor tables (or in an indoor room, depending on the season) for the tasting. We will taste four glasses of wine (Vermentino, Grechetto, Forcone and Ruffiano di Confine) and the estate's EVO oil. Everything will be accompanied by a rich platter of local products based on bruschetta with tomato, crostini with olives, pecorino cheese from Tuscia and typical cold cuts such as capocollo and wild boar sausage.
The experience will last about two and a half hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is recommended for 18 year olds and over, as the wine tasting is reserved for adults only.
Any accompanying persons under 9 years of age attend free of charge, while children between 10 and 17 years of age pay a reduced rate.
The facility is not accessible to wheelchair users or those with pushchairs.

The experience takes place all year round and is confirmed with a minimum number of 2 persons.

Dogs are allowed but may only stay in the outdoor areas of the garden and not indoors.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
