Full description

Training your palate is a physical activity in its own right. Put yourself to the test with a range of wines and authentic flavours on a wine-tasting tour in Chianti!

During this approximately 2-hour experience, you’ll visit the winery and take part in a guided tasting of four glasses of white, red and rosé wines, accompanied by local cured meats and cheeses. A sensory journey to discover this splendid region between Florence and Siena.

At the end of the session, the only risk is that you’ll want to do it all over again!

What we will do

We will meet in Barberino Tavernelle (FI) at the time selected when booking. There, our guide will be waiting for us and will lead us on a tour of the estate lasting around 30–40 minutes, during which we will learn about its history and production techniques.

Tenuta Tegolato is in fact situated within the estate of Società Agricola Castello del Tegolato, which has been passionately run for over twenty years by the young Cobuccio family. The surrounding vineyards were planted in 1956 at the request of Prince Alberto Dimitri Kunz, Prince of Habsburg-Lorraine, then owner of the estate, who succeeded in establishing a prestigious brand, particularly for the famous ‘Tegolato’, a wine unique in the world due to the particular production process used to make it.

Following the grapes’ journey, we will then arrive at the winery where we can admire the concrete tanks and understand their purpose, before delving into the fascinating world of fermentation. The tour will then continue through the cellars carved into the tuff to explore the barrel rooms and the importance of factors such as environment, temperature and humidity for the production of barrique-aged wines.

At this point, we can begin the actual tasting: we’ll start with a white sparkling wine and savour a total of four glasses, including Chianti Superiore and Chianti Riserva, as we try to understand their distinctive characteristics and differences. All this will be accompanied by a platter of bread, olive oil, cured meats and Tuscan cheeses.

One last toast and it will be time to say our goodbyes, after a total of two hours’ activities.

Who it is aimed at

The tasting is suitable for everyone, with no age restrictions: minors and non-drinkers can take part free of charge as accompanying guests.

The venue is wheelchair accessible, except for the hopper area included in the tour, where there are steps.
