Full description

A. A. A. New sommelier wanted!

If the world of wine has always fascinated you, now is the time to dive into a 2-hour premium tasting session.

Amidst the Chianti vineyards, you’ll discover all the secrets behind the production of a Chianti Riserva or a Chianti Superiore, before tasting it straight from the barrels to explore the many nuances between unaged and bottled wine.

And then? A toast, of course!

What we will do

We will meet at the Tenuta del Tegolato in Barberino Tavernelle (FI), at the time chosen when booking. There, our guide will be waiting for us and will lead us on a tour of the estate lasting around 30–40 minutes, during which we will discover its history and production techniques.

Following the grapes’ journey, we will then arrive at the winery, where we can admire the concrete vats and learn what they are used for, before delving into the fascinating world of fermentation. The tour will then continue through the cellars carved into the tuff to explore the barrel cellars and learn about the importance of factors such as environment, temperature and humidity for the production of barrique-aged wines.

We’ll spend some time exploring the ageing process: with a tasting straight from the barrels, guided by the estate’s staff, we’ll be able to sample the wine whilst it’s still maturing, to appreciate the differences between a ‘raw’ product and wine ready for bottling.

At this point, we can begin the actual tasting: we’ll start with a white sparkling wine and go on to savour a total of four glasses of Chianti Superiore and Chianti Riserva, seeking to understand their distinctive characteristics and differences. All this will be accompanied by a platter of bread, olive oil, cured meats and Tuscan cheeses.

One last ‘cheers’ and it will be time to say our goodbyes, after a total of two hours of activities.
