Full description

Do you ever wonder how you would fare on a desert island?

In this 2-day survival course, in the province of Pisa, you will discover how to survive in extreme conditions, without technology, relying solely on your skills and what the environment offers you.

You will learn how to light fires, hunt for food, send distress signals visible from the sky and build a makeshift shelter . Get ready to test your limits!

What we will do

The course is scheduled to start at 8.30 am at Calci, a location in Tuscany. During the entire experience, you will be accompanied by an experienced instructor who will guide you in learning these vital survival skills in extreme situations.

From Calci we will reach the base camp where the survival activities will take place, through a trekking route of about 1 hour through the suggestive woods of Valgraziosa.

Once at the camp, the theoretical-practical part of our experience will begin. You will have the opportunity to learn the basic elements of survival and acquire a range of skills:

  • Fire lighting. You will learn different techniques for lighting a fire without the use of lighters or matches. Traditional methods such as the use of tinder will be illustrated.
  • Findingand drinking water. You will be taught how to find and collect safe water for consumption, using natural resources such as springs, streams or rainfall. In addition, you will learn purification techniques to make it drinkable.
  • Food procurement and preparation. Methods of gathering food in the wild will be presented. You will learn to identify edible plants and herbs, and the principles of cooking and preparing the resulting food will also be explained.
  • Construction of an improvised shelter. You will be shown techniques for creating a makeshift shelter using natural materials available in the surrounding environment. You will learn how to protect yourself from the elements and create a safe place to spend the night.
  • Distress signals. The basics of emergency communications and distress signals will be covered. You will learn how to send visible distress signals and how to use emergency communication devices.

Remember that the course takes place outdoors, in a natural environment, so you will need to be prepared for the challenges that the environment may present!

The course is scheduled to end at 15:00 the following day, with a total duration of approximately 36 hours.
