Full description

Would you like to meet a queen and her entourage? With this experience in Rome you can!

Become a beekeeper for a day and discover up close one of nature's most fascinating (and indispensable) ecosystems. You will observe a beehive up close, learn many interesting facts about bees and meet the queen bee! Finally, you will taste a delicious wildflower honey.

Get ready for a sweet experience!

What we will do

The appointment is at the meeting point in Rome (RM) . We will be welcomed by our guide, who will accompany us on this adventure into the world of bees!

We will begin with an introductory briefing on the importance of bees in the ecosystem: we will discover why they are essential for pollination and the growth of plants and flowers, and what role the farmer has in their breeding and protection. We will continue with the opening of a beehive, to observe closely how they live, both in breeding and in the wild. We will learn how their society is organised, how they communicate and the difference between worker bees, drones and queen bees.

Thanks to an educational glass beehive, we will be able to see inside the hive in total safety, observing the frame on which the queen sits. We will then talk about the many threats to bees, such as pollution, and what we can do to protect them even if we live in the city!

We will conclude with a tasting of wildflower honey, accompanied by fresh bread: the guide will explain how to recognise quality products and how to enjoy the tasting at its best!

The activity will last a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
