Full description
Have you ever wondered what really goes on inside a beehive? Behind the constant buzzing of the bees lies a perfectly organised society, built on roles and cooperation!
In the countryside between Aradeo and Cutrofiano, in the heart of Salento, you’ll have a close-up encounter with one of nature’s most fascinating ecosystems.
Get ready to become a beekeeper for a day and taste some delicious honey!
What we will do
We’ll meet at the specified time at the meeting point in Cutrofiano (LE). We’ll be welcomed by an experienced beekeeper who’ll introduce us to the world of bees and explain the simple safety rules to follow to ensure we enjoy the experience safely.
Before entering the apiary, we will be given the necessary protective equipment, which may include a mask, gloves and a beekeeper’s jacket or a full-body suit, depending on requirements. We will also find out how the visit will unfold and what activities await us.
We will then head to the apiary, nestled in the peaceful Salento countryside. Initially, we will observe the hives from the outside, listening to interesting facts and explanations about the role of bees, honey production and the organisation of the colony.
We will then get to the heart of the experience by opening a real hive. We’ll be able to observe the honeycombs teeming with bees up close, identify the different areas of the hive dedicated to brood and honey stores, and discover the work of the worker bees. With a bit of luck, we might even spot the queen among thousands of bees!
During the visit, we’ll have plenty of time to ask questions, take photographs and explore the most fascinating aspects of life in the hive.
At the end of the experience, we will return to the reception area for a tasting of spring wildflower honey (included) .
The experience will last approximately 1 hour.
