For the ancient Greeks, the sea was as purple as wine. It's not just Homer's poetic licence, but the wonder that awaits you as you sail to Calabria's Costa Viola!
Set sail from Messina for a 3-hour excursion along Ulysses' route, among myths of sea monsters and enchanted villages such as Scilla.
Together with the skipper, you will discover the secrets of the Strait and toast to the adventure with a round of prosecco!
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before the indicated time at the meeting point in Messina (ME). Awaiting us will be our skipper, ready to accompany us on this boat excursion!
We will start the navigation up the Messina coastline until we reach Cape Peloro. Here we will be able to admire up close the imposing Pilone and the statue of the Little Mermaid, symbols of the Strait. Then we will 'cut' towards the Calabrian shore, where the waters begin to tinge with unique reflections: we are officially on the Costa Viola.
We will reach the beautiful Scilla, the final point of our exploration. Depending on the group's preference, we can opt for a one-hour shore break in Chianalea, the fishermen's village where the houses rest directly on the rocks, or a swim of equal length in the waters of Marina Grande.
During the tour, the skipper will tell us anecdotes about the history and nature of this arm of the sea, to which so many legends of Homeric heroes and sea monsters are linked. Before returning, we will enjoy a round of prosecco offered by the skipper to celebrate the day. The navigation will end with the return to Messina.
The activity will last about three hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone from 3 years of age; children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The boat is not accessible for wheelchair users and persons with reduced mobility.

The activity takes place from 28 June to 1 September and is confirmed with a minimum number of 3 participants.
The itinerary and stops may vary according to weather and sea conditions at the skipper's discretion.
The boat used is an 8-metre gozzo, equipped with an awning, sundeck, music, climbing ladder and shower. No shoes are allowed on board.
Dogs are not allowed on board.
Free parking spaces are available on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
