Boat tour to Portovenere and mussel and oyster tasting

Isn't summer without a lunch of mussels and oysters? Then this experience is for you!

With this half-day boat tour from La Spezia you can discover all the secrets of mussel farming thanks to a visit to the facilities and a meeting with a mussel farmer. Then, all you have to do is relax while enjoying an aperitif and a lunch of mussels and oysters.

The magnificent panorama of the Golfo dei Poeti will make the experience unforgettable!

What we will do

We will meet at the meeting point in La Spezia (SP), where our skipper will be waiting for us . After an initial welcome, we will board the boat, a 14.5-metre wooden fishing boat, and begin the experience!

We will sail along the western coast of the magnificent Gulf of La Spezia, skirting its seaside villages, including Marola, Fezzano and Le Grazie. Admiring the villages that overlook the sea and fascinate with their colourful houses, we will reach the Diga Foranea, where several mussel farms are located. These are facilities where mussels, commonly called 'mussels', are bred.

Here we will meet a mussel farmer, who will explain the various stages of mussel farming and processing and show us what his work consists of. For about 30 minutes we will be able to find out many interesting facts about mussel farming and ask as many questions as we like.

We will then resume sailing and, depending on sea conditions, we will stop either at Lerici orPalmaria Island for a swim in the sea and some snorkelling .

During thestop, we will take the opportunity to enjoy an aperitif (included) based on typical products such as focaccia (normal, with pesto and tomato), marinated mussels and oysters, accompanied by soft drinks and white wine.

Then we will sail along the Portovenere channel, admiring the Cinque Terre in the distance and passing by the enchanting Church of San Pietro, and stop where the sea is calmer to end the experience with a lunch (included) with Ligurian flavours, including white wine and pasta with mussels. After lunch we will relax and take one last dip in the sea before returning to the starting point.

The activity will last about 5 hours in total.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for everyone, with no age limit. Children up to 2 years of age participate free of charge. Unaccompanied minors under the age of 18 may participate subject to signing a waiver by a responsible adult.

The boat is accessible to people in wheelchairs or with walking difficulties.

Other information

The experience is available from Monday to Saturday, from May to October, and will be confirmed when a minimum of 8 participants are reached.

The meeting point can be reached by public transport and paid parking spaces are available nearby.

Theboat on which the activity will take place is a 14.5-metre wooden fishing boat with a maximum capacity of 13 persons (excluding crew) and equipped with a climbing ladder, cushions, awning, freshwater shower and toilet. In addition, snorkelling masks and a SUP board (included) will be on board for use by passengers.

During the experience, an aperitif (included) consisting of focaccia (normal, tomato and pesto), mussels alla marinara, oysters, white wine and soft drinks and a lunch (included) consisting of pasta with mussels, white wine and soft drinks will be served.
