The poet Gabriele D'Annunzio called them 'colossal spiders'. What are we talking about?
Trabucchi, of course! Get ready to discover these ancient fishing machines typical of the Adriatic coast on a 3½-hour boat tour.
In the company of a local skipper , you will admire from the sea some beautiful examples of trabucchi along the Vieste coastline and hear about their fascinating history!
What we will do
The appointment will be at Vieste (FG), 30 minutes before the time indicated in the booking. Awaiting us will be the skipper who will accompany us on our excursion to discover the trabucchi of Vieste!
We will sail northwards, where the water turns a deep turquoise. Along the coast, the trabucchi will appear to us one after the other like ancient sentinels suspended between land and water.
As we get closer, we can appreciate every detail: the sturdy poles of sun-worn Aleppo pine and the ropes whispering in the wind. The skipper will tell us the story of these machines born to challenge an unpredictable sea, talking about traditions handed down through generations.
When we stop near one of the most impressive trabucchi, we will be able to listen to the true silence of the place: just the rustle of a net and the sea breathing against the rocks. On the way back, we will make one or two bathroom stops lasting about 15-20 minutes each, to dive into the blue between Vieste and Peschici.
Finally, we will return to the starting point. The activity will last a total of three and a half hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone without age limits. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult in order to take part in the tour.
The boat is not accessible to wheelchairs or persons with reduced mobility for safety reasons.

The activity is available from April to September and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 4 participants.
The boat is a 6-metre boat with a 115 hp engine. It is equipped with an awning, a bow sundeck and a ladder. It is necessary to remain barefoot on board the boat.
Small and medium-sized dogs are allowed on board.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport. On-site parking is available for a fee.
