Boat tours in Salento: sea, aperitifs and fun

Salento needs no introduction. It is one of the most popular resorts in Puglia and is taken by storm every summer by tourists from all over Italy. Gallipoli and Porto Cesareo are famous among young people looking for fun, but also among lovers of kitesurfing and other water sports. Those on the Ionian side of Salento are strongly advised to book an apéritif on-board and enjoy a magnificent sunset over the sea.

Located at the tip of the Salento peninsula, Santa Maria di Leuca is one of the region’s most popular tourist resorts. Visiting its coasts by boat, both on the Ionian and Adriatic sides, you encounter numerous sea caves of legendary charm. The Grotta del Soffio is famous for the play of light and the vivid hues of the water, but Santa Maria di Leuca’s other caves are no less impressive. Choose one of the many boat tours to Leuca’s caves and get lost among the colors and beauty of these natural ravines.

25 Aug 2026 | Boat rental in Vieste - 5.80 m, 40 HP

It was a lovely experience, but some things didn’t match the event description

The experience lived up to our expectations and the boat was sturdy and gave us no trouble. I’d recommend it even to complete beginners. The only thing I’d like to point out is the rusty USB port and the fact that there was no test run in the harbour – just a brief explanation at the jetty about where the controls were. We were also asked to go and fill up with petrol ourselves, which took away from our actual sailing time. Out of the 4 hours, bear in mind that you’ll lose at least 30 minutes between signing the contract, collecting the boat and filling up with petrol (a bit longer if you hit a queue at the petrol station). The staff, however, were friendly and approachable.

27 Aug 2026 | One-day dinghy excursion to the Tremiti Islands with aperitif

Tremiti, the sea and relaxation: a brilliant experience!

A wonderful experience! We set off from Rodi Garganico for the Tremiti Islands and had a truly lovely day.nThe boat, with a small group of just 11 people, made the experience even more enjoyable and relaxed. Michele, our skipper, was extremely kind and always on hand: throughout the day, he shared lots of interesting facts with us and explained the islands’ features, guiding us to discover their most beautiful spots. We made several stops to go for a swim in the most picturesque coves and inlets, with truly stunning sea. The day was made even more enjoyable by an aperitif on board with pizza, perfect for a break in good company. An experience I would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to discover the Tremiti Islands in a pleasant and relaxing way!

25 Aug 2026 | Boat tour of the Salento coast and aperitif

A unique experience

My boyfriend and I booked this boat trip. It was a lovely day, perfect for the trip. The boat owner was very kind, friendly and helpful. The boat was clean and was wiped down frequently. The trip takes you past numerous caves and beyond, right up to just past Punta Meliso, where the Ionian and Adriatic Seas meet. There are several stops for a swim, and during the final stop on the way back, you’re served a lovely aperitif made with local specialities.nA highly recommended experience – we’ll definitely do it again if we return to the area!

03 Sep 2026 | Boat excursion to the sea caves of Vieste

Emotion and beauty

A wonderful experience; the skipper, Michele, was an excellent guide – you can really sense his mastery of the sea, which is essential on a day when the waves are a bit rougher. He made the trip fun and exciting whilst ensuring safety at all times. The view of Vieste from the sea is a marvel of beauty and unique colours; exploring the caves is truly an experience not to be missed. With just a few people on board and a small boat, this is the best way to enjoy visiting the caves and swimming offshore in places that would otherwise be inaccessible. It’s also ideal for children, who had a great time. The boat was new and very well maintained. Highly recommended!

11 Aug 2026 | One-day dinghy excursion to the Tremiti Islands with aperitif

The anchor

A wonderful experience, one to be repeated as soon as possible. The skipper, Antonio (I think he’s originally from Campania) – I’m specifying this because there are two Antonios – was very skilled and knowledgeable when we asked him questions about the area, and he gave us very detailed answers; he gave us a lovely experience out at sea.
