Have you ever dreamed of diving into emerald green waters, sliding over smooth rocks and ziplining through nature?
You can do it in the Rio Barbaira in Rocchetta Nervina, a canyoning paradise! Between dives, natural slides and abseiling on ropes, you'll get your fill of thrills, in the company of a guide who will accompany you every step of the way.
Get ready for an epic experience of around 5 hours, with 3 hours of pure adrenalin along the torrent. This jewel of the Nervia Valley is less than half an hour from the beaches of the Ligurian Riviera, yet it looks like something out of an adventure film!
What we will do
We will meet at 9 a.m. in Rocchetta Nervina (IM), where the guide will welcome us and provide us with the necessary equipment. After a brief explanation of the route, we will begin the trek to approach the canyon, approximately 40 minutes of walking, the first 25 minutes of which uphill.
Once we reach the canyon entrance, we will put on our wetsuits and listen to the safety briefing, and then officially begin our adventure. The variety of the landscape will surprise us: in the first part we will enjoy the openness of the canyon, while in the second part we will feel as if we are in a corner of a tropical forest!
The Rio Barbaira is one of the most beautiful canyoning routes in Italy, thanks to its exposure to the sun, the emerald colour of its waters and the smooth limestone of its rock walls. We will tackle an approximately 2 km course in the torrent, alternating between dives (always optional) from 2 to 8 metres, natural slides, zip lines and rappels, to be managed with the guide's help.
At the halfway point, a breathtaking 11-metre zipline awaits us to overcome the highest abseil of the route. After about 3 hours of fun, we will end the activity at a last pond, where we will change before tackling the short and easy 10-minute trail back to the starting point.
The experience will last about 5 hours in total, including briefing, dressing, approach time and return.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for ages 12 and up. Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
No previous canyoning experience is necessary, but one must be able to swim and be moderately athletic, given the physical demands of the activity.
Other information
The activity takes place from May to October and is confirmed with a minimum of four participants.
Toilets are available at the meeting point and a changing room is available in July and August. We recommend leaving your personal belongings in the cars at the start of the route.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport; there are free and paid parking spaces on site.
