Venture into the underground depths with speleo-canyoning at Grotta Donini and discover a true naturalistic jewel ofOgliastra.
You will find yourself in a spectacular environment, among pools of water illuminated by subtle glimmers of light, small waterfalls, stalactites, stalagmites, and attractively shaped rocky gorges.
Prepare yourself for a fascinating and physically and mentally demanding route, in which you will have to swim, abseil and face sections in the dark. Claustrophobia forbidden!
What we will do
We will meet the guide in Urzulei (NU), be given all theequipment and, after an introductory briefing on progression techniques and safety rules, we will approach the cave on a 15-minute walk.
Grotta Donini is a sinkhole for surface water, which has created a continuous succession of underground pools and ponds. The path inside is very articulated and involves crossing narrow corridors and several rope descents, the longest of which measures a good 50 metres.
At some points we will have to dive in the dark, illuminated only by the light of our torches, for a very special and unique experience. The environment in which we will find ourselves will make us feel like the protagonists of a fantasy film, explorers of underground gorges where the very few rays of sunlight that manage to penetrate create spectacular plays of light and give the water marvellous emerald shades.
At the end of the caving-canyoning route, it will take about 1 hour on foot to return to the meeting point. In total, the activity will last about 6 hours.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is at an advanced level and is suitable from 12 years of age. To participate, one must have good physical skills, be able to swim, not suffer from claustrophobia, and have already walked other canyons.
Other information
This activity is feasible from April to October and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum of 2 participants, subject to weather conditions and the guide's availability.
Private groups of at least 4 persons may request to carry out the activity also on days other than those indicated in the calendar.
We only accept participants who speak or understand Italian perfectly.
