Full description

Have you ever wondered how a genuine artisan cheese is made? At this farm in Giano dell’Umbria (PG), you can find out by getting your hands dirty during an authentic hands-on workshop!

You’ll learn the secrets of the art of cheese-making and take part first-hand in the final stage of production, draining the whey by hand.

The experience will round off with a delicious tasting session featuring a traditional platter of cold cuts, bruschetta and cheeses!

What we will do

We’ll meet at the selected time at the meeting point in Giano dell’Umbria, in the province of Perugia, set amongst the hills at the foot of the Martani Mountains. We’ll be welcomed by the guide, who will introduce us to the estate’s rural traditions and accompany us into the workshop.

Once we have all gathered, we will hear a detailed explanation of the entire cheese-making process, which takes several hours to complete, starting with fresh milk from the farm. We will discover what happens before the curd is formed and the steps that lead to the finished product.

At this point, we’ll get to the heart of the matter by watching a demonstration of the final stage. We’ll have a go at the process ourselves, kneading the curd by hand to help the whey drain off.

Once the hands-on workshop is over, we’ll head to the estate’s restaurant for the most eagerly awaited part: the tasting. We’ll sample a generous platter of typical local produce: cold cuts, bruschetta and an assortment of cheeses, all accompanied by fresh water (with the option to order glasses of wine separately) .

The experience will last approximately 2 hours in total.
