Full description
How would you cope on your own in the wilderness, without comfort and with only your skills?
Find out in our survival course on the outskirts of Turin! A whole day immersed in the wilderness, where you will learn how to orient yourself and get to know the terrain better, tie knots, light a fire and face challenges that will put you to the test.
Get ready to step out of your comfort zone and return home with new skills... and an epic story to tell!
What we will do
The meeting with the instructor is 10 minutes before 9 a.m. near Lombardore, on the outskirts of Turin. After an introductory briefing, we will walk (about a 25-minute walk) to the starting point of the activity.
We will begin with a first torical part lasting about 1 hour in which we will learn how to solve problems with the available resources and get to know the psychological dynamics that come into play in stressful situations. We will also talk about equipment, survival kit and share our expectations of the experience.
We will learn about various types of knots, with practical exercises on how and when to use them and techniques for overcoming obstacles, such as rivers. We will then test our skills, with some exciting challenges!
We will then move on to the world of cartography and navigation: we will learn what to do if we get lost and how to read the information of the territory with or without a compass. Around 13.30 we will stop for a break of about 40-45 minutes to eat our packed lunch (not included and to be brought from home) and regain our energy.
In the afternoon we will tackle one of the most fundamental survival skills: lighting a fire. We will learn different lighting techniques, using various tools such as tinder, matches and others.
We will end the day with a debriefing session, where we will reflect on the challenges faced and the progress made, and we will say goodbye around 6pm. The activity has a total duration of about 9 hours.
