Full description
Spend a day on board a fantastic sailing boat along the Livorno coastline.
You will have the opportunity to get closer to theexciting world of sailing thanks to an expert instructor, who will give you an unforgettable day of relaxation as you discover the most fascinating hidden places along the Labronica coastline. The instructor will also reveal the secrets of sailing, the instruments on board and their names, safety regulations, and much more.
After an hour of theory, the instructor will allow you to helm and perform a few manoeuvres: it will be a lot of fun and the activity will help you bond right away. The rest of the day will be spent relaxing between swimming and lunch on board with starter, main course and wine and the sea excursion. So, ready to get on board?
What we will do
We will meet at 10 a.m. in the Gulf of Baratti or Livorno, depending on the time of year. We will find the instructor and the 13-metre Comar Comet sailing boat waiting for us.
Once on board, the instructor will provide us with all the theoretical notions for our first approach to sailing. In particular, the lesson will include information on on-board instruments and their correct naming. We will then move on to fixed and current manoeuvres and an in-depth look at sails and propulsion, winds, gaits, knots and their applications.
Once the theory lesson is over, we will move on to practice: we will go out to sea with our new companions. If we wish, we will also try to steer the rudder like a real captain!
The instructor will also tell us about life on board, from filling in the logbook to managing the galley and provisions. We will learn about meteorology, coastal navigation and the duties and responsibilities on board. We will also see how the engine works, how roles are assigned to the crew and the main sailing manoeuvres under sail.
Afterwards, we will have lunch on board with an appetiser of cold meats and a fish main course. Water and 2 bottles of wine are also included. In the afternoon, we will sail in peace, enjoying diving off the boat and relaxing in the sun.
We will return at 18:00, for a total duration of about 8 hours.

The activity is suitable for everyone from 6 years old and up.

The excursion can be booked
- fromthe Port of Livorno on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the months of March, April, October, November, December;
- from the Gulf of Baratti on Thursdays in May and September.
The activity is confirmed upon reaching a minimum of 6 participants.
Does your group consist of more than 8 people? Contact us and we will do our best to organise the experience as a flotilla.
We will be on board the Comar Comet 42', with two cabins and two bathrooms. We will also enjoy a range of comforts, from soft cushions to LED TVs, from an outdoor shower to an indoor and outdoor radio. In addition to the very pleasant atmosphere, we will have a well-maintained boat with all the technical equipment. The sails, by the way, are oversized to ensure fast sailing in all weather conditions, as ordered by the Spanish prince who had her built.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
