Full description
Asinara is one of the Italian destinations to visit at least once in a lifetime.
Being an island, the best way to do this is of course by sea. Spend a day in the waters of the Sardinian Sea and the ways of Asinara. Dive into the water, swim, meet the island's famous native white donkeys and enjoy a lunch of local products.
What are you waiting for? Set sail on a one-day gozzo tour and discover the most beautiful places on Asinara.
What we will do
We will meet at the Stintino marina 15 minutes before the designated departure time. Here we will find a wonderful wooden gozzo with a lateen sail waiting for us, equipped with every comfort for a day's sailing.
After getting to know the crew, we will set sail and head towards our first stop. At around 11.15 a.m. we will arrive at Passaggio Fornelli or Cala Reale (depending on the itinerary established on the basis of weather and sea conditions). These are two ports onAsinara that will allow us to moor the gozzo and disembark on the island.
Ashore, we will have a couple of hours at our disposal to visit the island in the company of the skipper, who will introduce us to the history and changes that have taken place there over the centuries.
Those who wish will have the opportunity to visit CRAMA, the Centro di Recupero Animali Marini Asinara (Asinara Marine Animal Recovery Centre), by purchasing a ticket directly on site. Here, marine biologists who rescue and care for loggerhead turtles will explain the details of their mission.
Walking along the lanes of Asinara, it will be possible to meet the island's famous native white donkeys. At the end of the visit, we will get back on the boat and enjoy a lunch of typical products such as sausage, pecorino cheese, ricotta mustia, and Sardinian sweets, all produced by a local cooperative. Lunch will be accompanied by an excellent Vermentino wine.
In the afternoon, navigation will take us to the natural pools of Fornelli and past the Pelosa beach to enjoy a relaxing swim. At this point, tired but satisfied, we will head back to the tourist port of Stintino.
Return is scheduled for 18:00. The total duration of the experience is 8 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone, with no age limit. Children under the age of 3 are free of charge, but it is necessary to communicate their presence after the booking confirmation.
If participants cannot swim or are seasick, please inform the skipper.
The boat is wheelchair accessible. Please contact the organisers at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email for assistance with boarding.
Other information
The excursion is available from June to mid-October every day and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 2 participants.
The itinerary may vary depending on weather and sea conditions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Depending on the number of participants, an 8 m motor boat (for 7 persons) or a 7 m motor boat (for 6 persons) will be used for the tour. Both are wooden boats with lateen sails, equipped with an icebox, awning, life jackets and the inevitable first aid kit.
Alternatives for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs are available for lunch. Please inform the organisers at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email.
Dogs are allowed on board subject to prior notification to the organisers, but cannot disembark on the island of Asinara.
Near the port there is a pay car park where you can leave your car before setting sail; the embarkation point can also be reached on foot from the centre of Stintino.
