The best reward after a bike ride? A glass of wine ( or rather, three! ) and a platter of traditional Piedmontese specialities!
Although, to be honest, you won’t break a sweat on an e-bike: hire your bike in Sommariva Perno and head to Cascina Ciapat in Montaldo Roero for a wine tasting.
A 2½-hour experience in total , to discover the Roero with your eyes and your palate!
What we will do
We’ll meet at 09: 30 at the meeting point in Sommariva Perno (CN), where we’ll be given the e-bike reserved for us.
Cycling effortlessly thanks to the pedal-assist feature, we’ll follow a scenic route along the country roads of the Roero, surrounded by neat vineyards and breathtaking views.
Our ride will take us to Montaldo Roero in about an hour, where we’ll stop at the cosy Cascina Ciapat. Here, we’ll settle into the tasting room or at the outdoor tables in the shade of the lime trees to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation and the authentic flavours of the area.
The tasting includes three glasses of locally produced wine from the estate’s own vineyards, accompanied by the region’s finest specialities: Piedmont IGP hazelnuts , artisan salami and Raschera cheese served with honey and Nebbiolo cugnà.
At the end of the experience, we’ll return to the hire shop to hand back the bikes. The activity will last a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Who it is aimed at
You must be at least 14 years old to hire an e-bike . Wine tasting is for adults only. Child seats are available for children weighing up to 25 kg. Children are welcome at the winery: there are dedicated spaces for them, a play area and fun hands-on activities involving herbs or pouring water.

The experience is available all year round.
Important: the standard route is self-guided using Google Maps. Upon advance request, you can book the services of a local guide for an additional one-off fee of €150 (fixed rate for groups of 2 to 15 participants, to be paid on site) . With a guide, the route changes, offering even more scenic views along country lanes, past giant benches and along the ‘fairy trail’.
The organiser will contact you before the activity to find out your height and reserve the most suitable bike for you.
Child seats (up to 25 kg) are available on request and must be booked in advance; bike trailers are not available.
If you have any food allergies and/or intolerances, please contact the organiser using the contact details provided in your booking confirmation email to let them know.
Free parking is available on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is last minute. You get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours from the activity start. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
