Exclusive hot-air balloon flight over the Langhe

Soar higher than anyone else, but do it alongside those who really matter.

In the heart of Barolo, the purest form of wonder awaits you: an exclusive hot-air balloon ride, reserved just for you and whoever you choose to have by your side. For around an hour , you’ll be carried aloft above the mosaic of the Langa del Barolo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, amongst the geometric patterns of vineyards, castles and villages of yesteryear.

And once back on the ground, you can seal the magic by adding a visit to a winery with a tasting: the perfect way to toast a memory that will be yours alone!

What we will do

The meeting point is at the L'Astemia winery in Barolo (CN). Here you’ll meet the pilot and the team and begin your adventure with a pre-flight briefing, during which you’ll be given all the information you need to fly safely. Then you’ll climb aboard the exclusive hot-air balloon and get ready for take-off!

Gradually, you’ll leave the ground behind and begin to see the vineyards of the Langa del Barolo from above, with the rows of vines following the contours of the hills and the villages, woods and castles that make up one of Italy’s most famous wine-growing landscapes. From that moment on, the wind will decide where to take you.

You’ll remain suspended in the sky for 40–60 minutes, enjoying a succession of completely different views. You’ll be able to rise to an altitude of around 500 metres to take in the hills of the Langhe and, in some sections, fly closer to the landscape, passing over vineyards and treetops.

When it’s time to descend, the pilot will spot a suitable spot and you’ll prepare for landing. The ground crew will have been tracking your movements and will meet you with the organisation’s 4x4s, which you’ll board to return to the meeting point.

And for those who wish to continue their journey through the Langhe – this time with their feet firmly on the ground and a glass of wine in hand – it is possible to add a visit with a tasting at the L’Astemia winery ( optional, at an additional cost) . You’ll enter the production areas, walk past the vats where the wine is made, and then head to the Cannubi vineyards. You’ll round off the visit with a tasting of two wines, chosen according to your preferences and the available labels, accompanied by a platter of artisanal cured meats and cheeses.

Including the briefing, a 40–60-minute flight, landing and off-road transfers, the hot-air balloon experience will last a total of around 3 hours. The optional winery tour lasts approximately 1 hour to 1½ hours and can be requested from the organiser once your booking has been confirmed.

Who it is aimed at

This experience is for adults only.

To take part, you must be in good health. You may not fly if you are pregnant; have suffered injuries or undergone operations that restrict your ability to walk; are unable to maintain the correct posture during landing (bending your knees whilst holding onto the handles) ; or are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

If you have any other medical conditions, please consult your doctor before taking the flight. It is important to clarify any doubts regarding your state of health, as this could otherwise affect your safety and that of the other passengers.

Other information

The experience is available from mid-March to mid-November on the dates shown in the calendar ( which is constantly updated) and is aimed at private groups of 2 to 6 participants.

The hot-air balloon flight is an activity that is entirely dependent on weather conditions. The day before the activity, the pilot will confirm whether it will go ahead based on the latest weather forecast. If the weather is unsuitable for flying, the flight will be cancelled and alternative dates will be offered.

The visit to the L’Astemia winery, including a tasting of two wines and an accompanying platter, is optional and subject to a supplement of €50 per person, payable on site. Dogs are not permitted on board the hot-air balloon.

The meeting point is difficult to reach by public transport; we recommend travelling by car. Parking is available on site.
