If I say 'De arti venandi cum avibus' do you know what I am talking about?
If the answer is no, perhaps the time has come to learn about the ancient practice of falconry, originated by a Spanish emperor and a UNESCO Intangible Heritage Site since 2010.
Take part in an unforgettable experience in the heart of Salento. In 3 and a half hours, you will learn the basics offlight training and glove calling and experience a spectacular adventure in contact with magnificent birds of prey!
What we will do
We will meet in Salice Salentino (LE), a quarter of an hour before the time selected at the time of booking. The falconer will welcome us and show us theenchanting estate with over 50 aviaries.
We will be taken on an introductory tour of the world of birds of prey among the aviaries scattered around the estate, discovering the characteristics of each bird of prey, from the majestic American eagles to the eagle owl and the fascinating owls and barn owls.
We will get to the heart of the matter, discovering everything there is to know about the biology, nutrition and life of birds of prey. We will learn the secrets of training, flying and caring for these fascinating creatures.
But it doesn't end there. Once all this information has been received, the highlight of the 'Baptism of the Glove' will come. Wearing the equipment that the falconer will provide us with (glove), we will be able to hold the Harris Hawk and watch its flight. This last part will last about an hour.
The activity will last about 4 hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is open to all and the minimum age is 8 years. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
Other information
The activity is carried out all year round.
Companions can stay in the courtyard, where a bar is also available.
The meeting place cannot be reached by public transport.
