Get to know the owl Cecilio and his 'feathered friends' in Val della Torre, in the province of Turin. Together with an expert falconer, you can approach this fascinating art through a 2-hour lesson.
After a visit to the aviaries housing Harris's buzzards, caracara, owls and tawny o wls , you will experience the thrill of the baptism of the glove, during which you will learn how to call these highly intelligent animals to your fist.
A souvenir photo and a certificate will prove to all your friends that you have become a falconer for a day!
What we will do
The appointment is in Val della Torre (TO), 10 minutes before the time indicated in the booking.
Falconer Roberto will welcome us to his private park, which is home to numerous birds of prey: from the eagle owl Cecilio, the children's favourite, to Harris's buzzards, but also caracara, snowy owl, burrowing owl, Malaysian tawny owl and barn owl.
The activity will begin with a briefing during which we will discover some interesting facts about traditional and modern falconry , then we will be taken by the falconer on a tour of the aviaries.
After this introduction, we will move on to the baptism of the glove, the most practical part of our experience. Under the falconer's supervision, we will be able to fly Harris's buzzards, owls, barn owls and other birds of prey, while also learning how to call them to the fist.
Before ending our day as falconers, we will take a souvenir photo that will be printed and that we can take home with us. We will also receive a certificate to frame and hang wherever we like, so that we don't forget our encounter with the friendly Cecilio.
The experience will last a total of 2 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone from the age of 10. Minors must be accompanied by an adult participant.
Participation in a wheelchair is also possible, subject to a request to the falconer for organisational reasons.
Other information
The activity takes place from March to October and is confirmed with a minimum number of 2 persons.
Dogs are not allowed during the experience, but on request accommodation can be found for them in the guesthouse next door. For more information, please contact the falconer after the booking confirmation.
The meeting point can be reached by public transport; parking is available on site.
