Get closer to the fascinating world of birds of prey and learn how to interact with them with this falconry experience in Carapelle Calvisio, in the province of L'Aquila.
The farm is home to a variety of birds, including a barn owl and an imperial crow, whose habits and behaviour you will learn about. We will try to dispel the myths and beliefs commonly associated with nocturnal animals to get even more in tune with them.
The activity also includes a guided tour of the farm with all its animals and a tasting of tasty local products such as cold meats , cheeses and preserves. Are you ready to become a 'falconer for a day'?
What we will do
I would like to invite you to our farm in Carapelle Calvisio (AQ) for a day of approaching birds of prey.
The farm is home to a white-feathered barn owl , a black-feathered melanistic barn owl, a white-faced owl and an imperial raven. As an expert in falconry, I will introduce you to the world of birds of prey and introduce you to their habits and characteristics, while also dispelling all those popular myths that identify them as bad luck animals or symbols of bad omens.
Not only that, we will also fully understand the difference between wild and captive animals and learn all the little rules of handling birds of prey. Afterwards, we will also try to interact with them and catch them on the fist, taking care to follow the instructions on how and where to touch them. We will thus experience the thrill of approaching a barn owl or an imperial raven.
Before or after the falconry experience, we will also take a guided tour of the farm with its animals, including donkeys, sheep, pigs and other farmyard animals. Finally, we will all enjoy a tasting of local products such as bread, cold meats, cheese and preserves.
The activity lasts a total of three hours, including anhour for the birds of prey lesson and the rest between the farm visit and tasting.
