Full description
We warn you: after this, you will no longer be able to order just 'a beer'.
Yes, because a visit to the Valdarno Superiore Brewery is an experience that opens the door to a world - that of craft beer - made of aromas, yeasts and passion from which you will never want to go back! But it doesn't end there: the visit includes a farm walk in the Tuscan countryside, among free-range geese and cockerels.
A bucolic 3-hour journey, starting from the hop field and going straight to the glass, guided by the sympathy and experience of a real master brewer!
What we will do
The appointment is at the indicated time at the Birrificio Valdarno Superiore (BVS) in Malafrasca - Pergine Valdarno (AR). We will be welcomed by the brewery guide, as well as master brewer, ready to reveal the secrets of artisanal production and tell us how a 'live' beer, i. e. unfiltered and unpasteurised, is created.
We will start the tour inside the brewery, where we will discover first-hand how a quality craft beer is created, with a special focus on hops, the element that defines aroma and bitterness. We will go through the different stages of production, from the fermentation vats to the magic of bottling.
After the first part, we will move (each with his or her own car) to a farm in the middle of the countryside, about 10 minutes away. Situated at an altitude of 400 metres, the farm is surrounded by woods and olive trees and is home to a small Tuscan hop garden, where the key ingredient of BVS beers is cultivated.
During the walk through the hop garden, the guide will tell us about the botanical aspects and curiosities of this plant with a thousand aromatic nuances. It will be an opportunity to discover how the soil and climate influence the taste of beer, just as they do for wine.
Finally, we will sit outdoors, among the olive trees and the farm's free-range animals (geese, hens and the famous Valdarno Chicken) for a technical tasting of craft beers, accompanied by tastings of local products. Each tasting will be a small sensory journey, made unique by the sounds and scents of the Tuscan countryside.
The experience will last about three hours in total.
