Farm stay and truffle hunt with aperitif in Todi in the province of Perugia

The great thing is that you don't have to set the alarm clock: the rooster will take care of it here.

Stay for a night in a cosy farmhouse in the Umbrian countryside, in the hills of Todi. Wake up with a homemade breakfast, just like in the old days, and join a fun truffle hunt in the surrounding area.

Two dogs with an infallible nose and a 'truffle' aperitif will steal your heart!

What we will do

We will meet at the meeting point in Pesciano, a hamlet of Todi (PG), where the owner of the truffle farm will be waiting for us .

After an initial welcome, we will have a briefing of about 30 minutes on the scorzone truffle, the periods of the year when it can be found, and how dogs are trained to search. In this case, the four-legged friends who will accompany us will be the very sweet Africa and India, two meticulous little dogs.

Once we have got to know them, we will follow them to the truffle ground, a nearby wooded area. Here we will leave them free to sniff out the truffles and guide us during the search for about 45 minutes. After collecting our booty, we will return to our starting point, where we can relax for a while at the estate's garden or swimming pool.

We will end the experience with a delicious aperitif (included) that will include a glass of local wine accompanied by two specialities cooked with the truffle found during the search: an egg and a bruschetta with homemade bread.

Including the aperitif, the experience will last approximately 2 hours in total.

Check-in is scheduled from 14: 00 at the farm in Todi (PG). On arrival you will be welcomed by the owners of this property, an authentic country house lovingly restored, overlooking the green Umbrian countryside.

You will stay in a double room on the first floor, furnished with traditional country furniture, restored by hand using natural materials. Inside you will find a private bathroom with shower, toilet, washbasin, bidet, courtesy kit, hairdryer, mosquito nets on the windows, free Wi-Fi and adjustable heating. You will also have a common area with a kettle, cups and a selection of teas and herbal teas. There is no air conditioning: here you sleep like you used to, letting in the fresh country air.

You can explore the farm and meet its animals or relax in the infinity pool overlooking the valley, usually open from May to October. In the morning, breakfast (included) awaits you, prepared daily with products from the farm: homemade cakes, fresh fruit, jams and locally grown grains.

During your stay, you will participate in a truffle-hunting experience organised by the farm: you can choose whether to do it on the day of your arrival or departure, agreeing the time at check-in. You will discover interesting facts about the truffle and dog training, then move on to the practical part: about 45 minutes of searching in the surrounding woods, in the company of the truffle hunter and the two little dogs Africa and India.

Upon returning to the hotel, an aperitif (included) will await you: a glass of local wine and two specialities cooked with the truffle found during the search. The activity will last about 2 hours.

Check-out is expected by 10 a. m.

Who it is aimed at

The experience is intended for 2 persons over 18 years of age.

The facility has a wheelchair-accessible room, however the truffle hunting activity is not suitable for people with mobility problems.

Other information

The experience is available from June to August. Check-in is from 14: 00 and check-out by 10: 00.

Truffle hunting is not exclusive: other participants may be present. At the end of the experience, it will be possible to purchase truffles on site.

There is a tourist tax of €1. 50 per person, payable locally in cash.

Small dogs are allowed at no additional cost, subject to prior notification; however, they may not participate in truffle hunting.

The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport; free parking is available on site.
